Ball Family Dedication at Camp Crosley

7/20/2010

On Friday June 25th members of the Ball, Fisher and Ellis families traveled to the Muncie YMCA’s Camp Crosley in North Webster to attend a dedication ceremony honoring Edmund B. Ball, Bertha C. Ball, Edmund F. Ball, John and Janice Fisher and Michael Ellis.

This ceremony was to celebrate the many contributions of the Ball and Fisher families at Camp Crosley over more than 90 years.  Recent contributions from the Edmund F. and Virginia B. Ball Foundation and the Ball Brothers Foundation helped to fund renovations to the Camp Chapel building as well as many improvements to the North Teen Village at the Camp.

The camp unveiled in the renovated chapel a Founders Room which has displays on the philanthropic history of the family at Camp Crosley YMCA.  Executive Richard Armstrong stated that this is a story that needed to be told.  Many families contribute money to not for profits, but few give so generously of their time as well.  Edmund F. Ball served on the Camp Committee, now Board of Mangers from the mid 1930’s till 1995.  John Fisher served from the early 1940’s till his death in 2009.

The family today continues their long tradition of Philanthropy to Camp Crosley YMCA.

Their example of giving is one all of us can adopt in our lives.  Whether we have great wealth, or a talent we can share, or even time to volunteer to help others, all of us can learn from the lesson of the Ball Family and live our lives for others.
