Year Round Positions

Camp Crosley YMCA serves more than 10,000 children, young adults, and families each year, guided by a mission that is lived out through purposeful action and meaningful connection. Summer Positions

If you are interested in more than one summer position at Camp Crosley, you only need to apply to a single posting. During the interview process, our team will gladly consider you for all available roles and work with you to find the best fit based on your interests and strengths.

Cabin counselors live in a cabin with their co-counselor and about 10-12 campers. Cabin counselors are responsible for the basic care and everyday needs of the camper in their group for 1 week sessions over a 9 session summer. Cabin counselors will also be responsible in helping lead activities session throughout the day such as archery, horseback riding, waterskiing, sailing, and the many other activities that are offered at camp.

Program managers are responsible for overseeing one of our specific age groups, which includes 50-80 campers and 8-16 counselors. Programs are of a specific mixed-gender age group. Basic job functions include scheduling and facilitating activity areas, camper behavior management, mentoring and coaching the counselors, and communication with parents as necessary.

Whoazone Coordinator:  provides supervision and leadership to the lifeguard team for the whoazone, and is repsonsible for maintenance and safety of whoazone activities, and monitoring cleanliness of the whoazone facility and equipment.

Wrangler Coordinator:  provides supervision and leadership to horse back riding staff team to provide quality instruction and programming. The wrangler coordinator is also responsible for the maintenance and care of the barn and herd.

Watercraft Coordinator:  provides supervision and leadership to the watercraft team (which is includes canoeing, kayaking, SUPs, sailing, and waterskiing) for the waterfront, and is repsonsible for maintenance and safety of all watercraft activities, and monitoring cleanliness of the watercraft facility and equipment.

The media team works together as photographers and videographers to produce a weekly slideshow after capturing awesome camp moments throughout each week. The slideshow is shown on the last night of each session. The media team updates camp’s media sites including BunkOne and Instagram.

The Nurse Intern assists our camp nurses and attends to the medical needs of camp staff. In times of needing to transport staff or campers to nearby medical facilities, the nurse intern assists in driving and helping the patient get checked in. During Check In and Check Out days, the intern assists our nurses in organizing medication and proper documentation. This person also communicates with camp staff what supplies need to be replaced in the Brown Infirmary.

The office assistant works in camp’s office assisting the office manager with filing, answering phones and speaking with parents, sorting mail, copying and other office related tasks. Additional responsibilities may include helping in the camp store, assisting with scheduling, check-in and check-out of campers on opening and closing days. Minimum requirements: PC skills and familiar with Word and Excel and the ability to quickly learn camp software.

Kitchen staff assist the Hospitality Director/Camp Cook with food prep and serving and clean up for all meals served in camp. Other responsibilities include dish washing, mopping and cleaning/disinfecting of kitchen surfaces, unloading supply truck, trash removal, and other duties as assigned by food service manager. Minimum requirements: at least 16 years old, must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. without assistance, must be able to stand for long periods of time.

Housekeepers are responsible for the cleanliness of camp including restrooms, health care center, dining hall, guest rooms, large area program buildings, main office and laundry. Minimum requirements: at least 18 years old, must be able to climb ladders and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. without assistance.

The groundskeeper assists the Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining the grounds. Responsibilities include lawn mowing, weeding, painting, minor carpentry, replacing light bulbs and screens, and other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor. Minimum requirements: at least 18 years old, must be able to climb ladders and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. without assistance, ability to use and repair small motors a plus.

The night watchman will patrol the grounds after dark. Some assistance with maintenance and housekeeping is required. This position requires walking for long periods of time as well as the ability to remain awake at night.

Volunteer healthcare providers will provide on-site medical care to campers and staff. Responsibilities include assessing minor injuries, administering medications, and responding to emergencies. This position requires current licensure and strong decision-making skills.

To be considered for a summer staff position at Camp Crosley, applicants must complete an online application and participate in a personal interview with a member of the Camp Crosley leadership team. In-person interviews are preferred whenever possible, but video interviews are available for those who are unable to travel.

Summer employment at Camp Crosley runs from May 27 through August 8. Prior to the start date, staff will participate in required training days for select activities such as the Challenge Course, lifeguarding, target sports, and other program areas. Limited time off, including an occasional day or potential week, may be available and must be discussed and approved prior to employment.

Base weekly pay for staff ranges from $400 to $550, based on prior camp experience, certifications, and assigned responsibilities. Staff receive one evening off during the week, along with a 24-hour break from Saturday to Sunday.

  • PAYCHECK:  You will get paid to have fun.  Starting salary is $400/week with add ons based on experience, certifications, leadership roles, extra duties, etc.
  • ROOM AND BOARD:  Will be provided when working at camp.  Housing, meals, and other living expenses are covered which means extra $$ in your pocket at the end of summer.
  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:  Ongoing professional development sets you up to learn about your job while building a strong team with the people you will be working with and offers support all throughout the summer.
  • 21ST CENTURY SKILLS:  Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity, and Contribution that are critical for success in today’s world are developed and practiced at camp; they are skills and traits that can draw employer’s attention to your resume.
  • LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION:  We write great letters of recommendation because we take the time to get to know you as an individual and see you in action on a daily basis.
  • NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES:  With other staff and connections to camp alumni can provide a link to possible internships or future job opportunities in a variety of careers.
  • DIVERSE AND GLOBAL EXPERIENCE:  Camp provides a global experience without the expense of long-distance travel; it is common for campers and staff to be from a variety of places and cultural perspectives from around the US and world.
  • TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS:  You get to keep any additional training you may acquire (like CPR, first aid, and activity specialist certifications) that may also help you land a job at home or school working in a range of settings.
