We are thrilled to introduce our new Program Intern, Matt Golledge, hailing from Wales. Matt is no stranger to Camp Crosley, having worked as a summer camp counselor since 2022. Most recently, he served on our leadership team as the Explorer Manager this past summer. Matt is embarking on an 18-month internship, and we are excited to see how he will channel his passion and skills into enriching the Camp Crosley experience. Here’s what Matt has to say about joining the Crosley family!
Why Camp Crosley?: I discovered Camp Crosley in January 2022 while searching for a summer job and a fresh experience after being impacted by COVID-19 for nearly two years. Since then, I’ve returned every summer, spending two summers as a cabin counselor and serving as the Explorer Manager in 2024. The primary reason I am passionate about working at Camp Crosley is that, regardless of your role, you become part of something truly meaningful that can profoundly impact and transform children’s lives, whether through summer camp or school retreats.
Favorite Camp Memory: One of my favorite memories from working at camp was during the summer of 2023 when I served as a counselor in Lenape Cabin. I had the privilege of guiding a group of 10-year-old boys who were complete strangers at the beginning of the week. By the end, after sharing countless fun experiences and navigating some personal challenges, they had formed a remarkable bond. They affectionately referred to each other as “brothers” and exchanged contact information to keep in touch after camp. It was heartwarming to witness their desire to nurture the friendships they had built at Camp Crosley. As their counselor, seeing their growth within just one week was incredibly rewarding. When they returned the following summer, it was touching to see how they maintained those connections, proving just how special their camp experience truly was!
